• How effective is the treatment?
SmartLipo is great for eliminating the common ‘problem areas’... tummy, knees under-arms, buttocks, back, chin etc. Overall results are dependent on the severity of the area to be treated, but usually dramatic improvements are seen approximately 6 weeks after initial treatment - with final results in about 4 months.
Although SmartLipo is still relatively new to the UK, it has been in use in Italy for some two years, with an impressive track record. You can see the results it can achieve on our After Treatment Results page.
• How many treatments will I need?
This very much depends on the amount of fat to be removed, and the number of areas of the body to be treated. More often than not one treatment will achieve the desired effect. Dr. Gabriel will advise on this during your initial consultation.
• How long does a treatment take?
SmartLipo doesn't take very long at all... in fact it can take as little as an hour. Most patients can return to work immediately after treatment. One, two or three areas can be treated at a single session. Example; Lower abdomen, jawline and ‘love handles’ would be classed as three areas.
• Are there any side effects?
Some minor brusing or discomfort may occur in the short term. Antibiotics are given to prevent infection.
• Does it hurt?
No - there is no pain associated with SmartLipo. A local anaesthetic is applied to the area to be treated and the procedure is virtually painless.
• Is SmartLipo safe?
As a GP, Dr. Gabriel will give you an initial consultation to assess suitability. Under normal circumstances there is no health risk associated with the SmartLipo.
• Are the results permanent?
Yes, Smartlipo offers permanent results, however, like any weight loss programme a sensible diet and lifestyle is necessary to maintain condition and efficacy. You will be advised of this at the time of your treatment consultation.
• Am I in safe hands?
Snowberry Lane Clinic was set up by Dr. Rupert Gabriel and Ann Gabriel, a qualified nurse, in 2003. Dr. Gabriel belongs to the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors and lectures and teaches other doctors. He is the first doctor in the UK qualified to train in SmartLipo and is the only doctor in the UK to be chosen to contribute to the international arena in SmartLipo.
• How much does it cost?
SmartLipo costs much less than traditional liposuction. How much exactly will depend on the extent of the treatment. This will be discussed at your free initial consultation.
